Merry Christmas!

We had a lovely Christmas. It felt like we had picked a day in July to celebrate Christmas. We listen to Christmas Carols, decorated gingerbread houses, did service, had our traditional Christmas dinner, and had a great time with friends. But it didn't quite feel like Christmas without our extended family and cold weather. We were super grateful for the packages sent from home, it helped. They really cheered us up!

I was pleased with a new twist on an old tradition we started this year. We have an "elf" named Rudy that puts something in our stockings the 12 days before Christmas. At FHE 13 days before Christmas, we had a lesson on the Sermon and the Mount. Each boy took turns standing on a chair and giving a part of the sermon. Then we memorize a scripture, "The Lord loveth a cheerful giver." Then I read a note from Rudy that said he would be coming soon, and along with the gifts he would give the boys an idea of how they could be cheerful givers that day (Smile and said hi to 5 people, Give everyone in your family a hug, make a card for your teacher, share your toys, etc.) It was great! Finally a successful FHE. The ideas were just small acts but it helped them think about others more.

Stay-cation to Managaha

Since it's too expensive to fly away for a vacation, we take a "stay"cation. We take the free fairy to the little island of Managaha for a day trip.

We often have tourist take pictures of the kids. They just think they are so cute. It was a little weird at first but now we are use to it.
